The first decision is deciding how much of Morocco you want to experience. The hotel matters, but the shape of the journey matters first.
For some travellers, Marrakech provides enough variety for an entire trip. The city offers culture, food, history, shopping and atmosphere in a way few destinations can match. Staying in the medina creates one experience, while choosing a resort-style hotel outside the city creates another.
Others choose to combine Marrakech with the Atlas Mountains, where the pace slows and the scenery changes completely. This can bring a welcome contrast after time in the city.
Some journeys continue further, adding the desert, Essaouira or the coastline to create a broader view of the country. These combinations can be incredibly rewarding, but they need to be planned with care.
Morocco rewards travellers who leave enough time to experience each place properly rather than trying to fit everything into one itinerary.
