Travel across the Indian Ocean

From time spent on a single island to journeys that combine coast, culture, and nature, travel across the Indian Ocean can take different forms. We curate the destinations, and design how your journey comes together once you are there.

Countries in the Indian Ocean

Each destination offers a different way to travel, depending on how you want your time to feel.

Maldives

Island based travel, where everything centres around your resort and the water that surrounds it.

Mauritius

A mix of coastline and landscape, with the ability to explore beyond your hotel.

Seychelles

Quieter islands, where the focus is on space, nature, and a slower pace.

Sri Lanka

A more varied journey, combining culture, landscape, and coastline.

How to experience the Indian Ocean

The Indian Ocean is often associated with island travel, but the region offers more than one way to experience it. Some journeys are centred around a single destination, where the pace slows and everything is within reach. Others combine different places, from safari to coastline, or move between islands and inland regions. The difference is in how your time is designed.

For many travellers, the Indian Ocean works best when you stay in one destination. A single island in the Maldives, a hotel on the coast in Mauritius, or time in the Seychelles where the focus is on space and nature. The emphasis is on choosing the right setting and allowing enough time to enjoy it properly.

When to travel

Conditions across the Indian Ocean vary depending on where you go, so the right time to travel depends on the type of trip you have in mind.

The Maldives tends to work best between November and April, when the weather is drier and the sea is calmer. This is the most consistent period for time on the water, snorkelling, and moving between islands.

Mauritius and the Seychelles are more flexible. Both can be visited for much of the year, but the most settled conditions are usually between April and November, when temperatures are slightly lower and humidity is reduced. The Seychelles, in particular, works well in April, May, October, and November, when the seas are calmer for swimming and boat trips.

Sri Lanka depends on which side of the island you are visiting. The south and west coasts are best between December and April, while the east coast is better between May and September. This allows you to plan a journey that moves with the seasons rather than against them.

If you are combining destinations, such as a safari in East Africa with time on the coast or in the Maldives, timing becomes more important. These journeys need to be planned carefully so that conditions work well across each part of the trip.
