Latin America is often associated with landmark sights, but the region offers far more than a list of places to visit. Time in One Place

For many travellers, Latin America works best when a single country is given proper time. Peru, for example, holds extraordinary variety, from the Sacred Valley and Machu Picchu to the Amazon basin and the desert coast. Colombia, too, rewards staying longer: colonial cities, coffee country, and the Caribbean all sit within one journey. The emphasis is on choosing the right setting and allowing enough time to move through it without feeling rushed.

When to travel

The right time to travel depends on where you are going. Peru, Chile, and Argentina all follow a similar pattern, the dry season between May and October suits the Andes, while Patagonia works best from November to March. Brazil’s Pantanal is most rewarding for wildlife between July and October.

Mexico and Costa Rica can be visited for much of the year, with December to April offering the most settled conditions across both. If you are combining destinations, timing needs to be considered carefully so that conditions work across each part of the journey.
