Bali

Bali is one of the world’s most beloved island destinations, but the experience changes completely depending on which part of it you choose.

For some travellers, it is about beaches, beautiful resorts and the surf and social scene of the south. For others, it is the rice terraces, temples, wellness and spiritual culture of the interior that make the journey so distinctive.

The island can be experienced as a relaxed beach stay, a culture and wellness-led retreat in the hills, or a combination of coast and countryside. Each region has its own atmosphere, from lively and social to quiet, green and deeply restful.

A great trip to Bali often comes down to choosing the right region, the right time of year and the right balance between relaxation and exploration.

Travel Guide

The first decision is understanding which version of Bali is right for you, rather than simply choosing a single resort.

Ubud, in the island’s cultural heart, offers rice terraces, temples, wellness and a lush, green setting inland. The southern beaches each have their own character: Seminyak and Canggu are stylish and social, with restaurants, beach clubs and surf, while the Bukit Peninsula around Uluwatu brings dramatic clifftop scenery and Nusa Dua offers calmer, family-friendly resorts.

Beyond the well-known areas, the quieter east and north, around Sidemen and Amed, and the nearby Nusa islands reveal a more traditional, unhurried Bali. Once the right region has been identified, the choice of resort becomes much clearer.

Why travel with Curuvia in Bali

Bali is best experienced without trying to see too much.

The island’s appeal lies in its atmosphere, its wellness and its natural beauty, all of which reward an unhurried pace. Moving too often, or packing in too many temples and sights, can dilute the sense of calm that makes Bali so special.

One or two well-chosen areas, with enough time to properly settle in, will usually create a richer holiday than constant movement. The aim is variety without losing the feeling of ease.
