Orient Express La Minerva occupies a 17th-century palace on Piazza della Minerva, steps from the Pantheon, and reopened in 2025 as the first hotel under the Orient Express name. Built in 1620 and a hotel since 1811, it has been redesigned by artist-architect Hugo Toro, blending Art Deco grandeur with Roman detail, and retains original marble statues. There are 93 rooms and suites, from compact classics to signature suites with frescoed ceilings, terraces and Pantheon views. The seventh-floor rooftop holds Gigi Rigolatto, a Mediterranean restaurant and bar with views across the city, while La Minerva Bar serves all day under a restored glass roof. The spa draws on the Ottoman hammam tradition, and there is a gym and a functional training room. There is no pool. It suits couples and design-minded travellers who want to be in the historic centre, within walking distance of Rome’s landmarks.
Dining is led by the rooftop. Gigi Rigolatto sits on the seventh floor with Mediterranean cooking, Riviera-style design and panoramic views towards the Pantheon and St Peter’s, with the small Bellini Bar alongside for cocktails.
At ground level, La Minerva Bar serves all day under a restored glass-and-iron roof, from Roman classics and contemporary dishes to afternoon tea and mixology.
