Blancaneaux Lodge sits in the Cayo District of western Belize, within the 107,000-acre Mountain Pine Ridge Forest Reserve on the Privassion River, among pines, oaks, ravines and waterfalls, reached by land, charter flight or helicopter. Francis Ford Coppola bought the abandoned lodge in the early 1980s as a family retreat and opened it to guests in 1993, and it is a 20-room hideaway of thatched-roof cabanas and villas with Guatemalan decor, up to the family cabana, two-bedroom villas and Coppola’s own villa.
