EOLO – Patagonia’s Spirit sits on a 10,000-acre property roughly halfway between El Calafate and Los Glaciares National Park in Argentine Patagonia, away from the crowds. It has 17 rooms individually decorated in estancia style, deliberately without televisions, from Superior and Premium to Corner rooms with double corner windows, all with outside views. Dining is at a single restaurant led by executive chef Juan Pablo Bonaveri, with regional Patagonian products and international technique across breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea and dinner, and a bar of exclusively Argentine wines. The understated architecture is by Fernando Bustillo, built around a wind-sheltered central garden. There is no spa or pool, the focus being the scenery and excursions. With an in-house guide, on-property activities span trekking, mountain biking, birdwatching, 4×4 and horse riding, while off-property days reach the Perito Moreno Glacier, Upsala and Spegazzini glaciers by cruise, El Chalten and fly fishing. A member of Relais & Chateaux, it suits couples and travellers who want a serene, design-led digital-detox estancia base for glacier and hiking excursions.
