A Crater-Rim Lodge in the Galapagos

On the rim of an extinct volcanic crater on Santa Cruz in the Galapagos, Pikaia Lodge is a Relais & Chateaux eco-lodge with rooms and suites, an infinity pool, a spa and a private tortoise reserve, with its own yacht for island cruises.

Evolution-themed luxury above the crater

Pikaia Lodge sits on the rim of an extinct volcanic crater at 450 metres on Santa Cruz Island in the central Galapagos, on a 31-hectare property with its own private wild giant-tortoise reserve, in the transition zone between savanna and mist forest. It has rooms and suites across four categories, from terrace and balcony rooms to a garden suite and a pool suite with a private plunge pool. Dining is at the Evolution Restaurant, with Ecuadorian and international fusion menus that change every two days and a walk-in wine cellar, plus dining under the stars by the firepit and infinity pool, and the DNA Bar in the lobby lounge.

There is the Sumaq Spa on the crater rim, a spa jacuzzi and a gym, and an infinity pool on the crater edge. This land-based lodge runs its own private yacht for full-day cruises to two islands daily with naturalist guides, alongside the private tortoise reserve, volcanic-landscape tours, mountain bikes and trails. A member of Relais & Chateaux, it suits environmentally conscious, active and adventurous travellers and multigenerational families who want a design-led Galapagos base.
