Tanzania holds some of the finest safari country in Africa, and the experience changes completely depending on which parks you choose and when you travel.
For some travellers, it is about the Serengeti, the Ngorongoro Crater and the sheer scale of the Great Migration. For others, it is the wilder and quieter south, the chimpanzees of the western forests and the beaches of Zanzibar that make the journey so distinctive.
The country can be experienced as a classic northern safari, a remote journey through the southern parks, or a combination of game viewing and time on the Indian Ocean coast. Each area has its own character, from busy and spectacular to genuinely solitary.
A great trip to Tanzania often comes down to choosing the right parks, the right time of year and the right balance between wildlife and rest.

The first decision is understanding which circuit is right for you, rather than choosing a camp and working backwards.
The northern circuit is the best known, linking the Serengeti, the Ngorongoro Crater, Tarangire and Lake Manyara from Arusha. It offers the highest concentrations of game and the migration, and it is where most first safaris are spent. The southern circuit, taking in Nyerere and Ruaha, is wilder and far less visited, with walking safaris and boat safaris that the north cannot easily match. Further west, Mahale and Katavi are remote, expensive and exceptional, and suit travellers on a second or third African journey.
Zanzibar sits a short flight from all of them, and the two halves of the trip work best when planned together. Once the circuit is settled, the choice of camps becomes much clearer.
Tanzania offers the Serengeti, the Ngorongoro Crater, the wild southern parks and the beaches of Zanzibar, but the timing and the order of a trip make an enormous difference. We help you choose the right parks and the right months, and build a safari that gives the wildlife time to reveal itself.
Whether you would prefer to talk things through or already have something in mind, we will help you move forward with a clear and considered plan.
