Angama Mara is perched on the Oloololo Escarpment 1,000 feet above the Maasai Mara plains, its name meaning suspended in mid-air in Swahili, on a 700-hectare site bordering the Mara Triangle with a private road into the reserve, reached by a 45-minute flight from Nairobi to its own airfield.
It has 30 en-suite tented suites arranged as two identical camps of 15, each over 100 square metres with an 11-metre glass frontage, some interconnecting for families. Dining is all-inclusive, from meals on the baraza with valley views to a lantern-lit Forest BBQ, long lunches at the Shamba kitchen garden and a sundowner boma with a Maasai performance. Wellness is in-tent and on the deck, with a 12-metre rim-flow pool over the Mara and a Technogym fitness room. Experiences run from game drives and hot-air ballooning to walking safaris, beading with Maasai mamas and photography tutorials, with an Out of Africa picnic.
