A 1930s Manor with Resident Giraffes

In the Langata suburb of Nairobi, Giraffe Manor is a 1930s manor of 12 rooms set in forest, famous for the resident herd of endangered giraffes that visit at breakfast, with communal dining and access to a nearby pool and spa.

Breakfast with the giraffes

Giraffe Manor is a historic 1930s manor house in the Langata suburb of Nairobi, set on 12 acres within 140 acres of indigenous forest, about 40 minutes from the international airport, part of The Safari Collection. It has 12 rooms across the Historic Manor and the newer Garden Manor, one named after Karen Blixen, on an all-inclusive basis. Its signature is a resident herd of endangered Rothschild’s giraffes that visit morning and evening, poking their heads through the windows at breakfast.

Dining is communal, from breakfast and afternoon tea to dinner, with private dining options, and the neighbouring Retreat has Daisy’s cafe and bar. Wellness is at The Retreat next door, with a wellness centre, treatment rooms, a hot tub, steam room, sauna, gym and a 21-metre infinity pool overlooking the sanctuary. Experiences include feeding the giraffes, the Karen Blixen Museum, the Sheldrick elephant orphanage and Nairobi National Park game drives. Part of The Safari Collection, it suits bucket-list travellers, couples and families who want a unique wildlife-immersion stay, usually to begin or end a Kenya safari.

Dining

Dining is communal, from breakfast and afternoon tea to dinner, with private dining options in the Orchid House, on a balcony or in the courtyard garden.
