A Design Lodge in Northern Kenya

Built into volcanic rock in the Kalama Conservancy of northern Kenya, Saruni Samburu is a design lodge of six open-fronted villas with Mount Kenya views, with Italian-style dining, a wellbeing space and two rock-hewn infinity pools.

Dramatic design in wild northern Kenya

Saruni Samburu is a design lodge built into volcanic rock high above a valley in the community-owned Kalama Wildlife Conservancy in northern Kenya, with exclusive access to around 240,000 acres plus Samburu National Reserve and views to Mount Kenya. It has just six open-fronted stone villas, closed at night with canvas and netting, from single villas to family villas and a celebrated honeymoon villa built into the hillside, each with an outdoor shower and private verandah.

Dining is at a communal table with Italian-style cuisine, plus poolside and in-villa private dining and a lounge open for stargazing at dinner. There is the Samburu Wellbeing Space, blending modern and traditional Samburu healing, and two rock-hewn infinity pools with a pool bar. Solar-powered and B Corp certified, it offers day and night game drives, a photographic hide, bush walks, a Warriors Academy, a sacred-mountain trek, Samburu village visits and the Reteti elephant sanctuary. Part of Saruni Basecamp, it suits luxury families, couples and culturally curious travellers who want a dramatic, community-focused northern-Kenya safari.
